Consider the resources to support you

Your trusted guide to Medicare coverage.

Choosing Medicare coverage is an important decision, but you don't have to navigate it on your own. Through Via Benefits Insurance Services (Via Benefits), you'll have access to a broad range of Medicare health and prescription drug plans from multiple insurance carriers, along with personalized support from a licensed benefit advisor.

Via Benefits will help you navigate your Medicare choices, providing personalized guidance during enrollment and ongoing support in the years ahead. Licensed, unbiased benefit advisors are available to help you compare plans and make informed coverage decisions.

How Via Benefits supports you

  • More choice and flexibility. You’ll have access to a large variety of health and prescription drug plans. Because coverage is based on where you live, you'll have access to plans from multiple insurance carriers, allowing you to choose coverage that best meets your needs. Via Benefits can help you identify options that include your preferred providers and facilities, including the Mayo Clinic.
  • Personalized guidance. A licensed benefit advisor will help you assess your needs, understand your options, answer your questions and provide unbiased and personalized guidance so you can confidently select the coverage that best meets your individual needs based on the plans available in your area. Best of all, this one-on-one support is available at no cost to you.
  • Support year after year. Through this partnership with Via Benefits, you’ll have someone you can trust throughout your retirement journey whenever questions arise or your health care needs change.

Paying for your coverage

Medical plan premiums will no longer be deducted from your pension, if applicable. Instead, you'll pay your insurance carrier directly for your coverage.

After enrolling, be sure to review the payment options offered by your carrier and arrange to pay your premiums on time. Many carriers offer convenient automatic payment options, which can help simplify the process and ensure your coverage remains active.

Via Benefits can help you understand the payment process, set up automatic premium reimbursement (for those eligible for the RHCAP) and answer any questions along the way.

Using Your Retiree Health Care Assistance Program (RHCAP)

If you participated in the RHCAP while working at Dow, you can continue to use your account to help pay for eligible medical premiums, including Medicare Part B and standalone Medicare Part D premiums. Dow will continue to match your account balance dollar for dollar.

You may use your RHCAP funds to be reimbursed for premiums incurred by you, your spouse and your dependent children. When you enroll through Via Benefits, you can also take advantage of automatic premium reimbursement, making it even easier to receive your eligible reimbursements without submitting claims each month.

There are two investment allocation options for the money in your RHCAP account.

Important things to know

  • If you and your spouse/domestic partner are both eligible for coverage, you’ll each enroll separately in the plan that best fits your individual coverage needs and preferences.
  • To allow another person to access information about your plan/benefits, you must have an approved authorization on file. To get started, call Via Benefits at (833) 858-7708. A representative can walk you through the authorization process.
  • To permit another person to make decisions for you without the need for your approval, you need to submit a Power of Attorney (POA) to Via Benefits that describes the powers you wish to delegate. For assistance establishing a POA, call Via Benefits at Via Benefits (833) 858-7708. Note: a POA on file with Dow does not carry over to Via Benefits.
